Bible Diet
Read Matthew 3:1 through 4:11
Over the years, countless fad diets have come and gone. Cabbage soup, fast-food deli sandwiches, diet drinks, wafer bars, and chewy candy are just a few of the strange examples. Others have a less restrictive menu while still shunning certain items. Vegan diets emphasize grains, soy, and produce, while the low-carb diet is heavy on meats and dairy foods.
The truth is, none of these diets will bring ultimate success and happiness. That’s because there’s more to life than just our physical bodies. Jesus said food alone won’t satisfy us (Matthew 4:4). God placed within our souls a deeper longing—one that is designed to lead us into a relationship with Him. We fill this spiritual hunger by regularly consuming His Word and applying it to our lives. We feed it by spending time in His presence and walking with Him in obedience. And we will find ultimate satisfaction by someday experiencing eternity with Christ—the Word who became flesh (John 1:14).
Be certain you start your day with a generous helping of God’s Word. His truth is essential for a balanced and healthy life.
Challenge for Today: When you pray before meals, ask God to fill your life with His Word as well.
